Currently I'm running several separate long-running playtests for Heyoka, I will summarize just a few of them.
Wyrm's Coil - The characters play the different sub-races of the Wyrm's Coil, which will eventually be released as part of the "Supernaturals" book (release date not yet announced). The Wyrm's Coil are reptilian creatures with long life spans who dwell on the far side of the continent of Heyoka from the human lands. The humans have been at war with the Wyrm's Coil for the last age (2,000 years). It was discovered that the war between humans and the Wyrm's Coil was started not by the Dragons as was previously thought but a far deadlier and more ancient enemy (or enemies) or humanity. The war had lead to the formation of the Order of the Dragon Shield, a human brotherhood of knights that drew from all the six clans and trained extensively to fight the Wyrm's Coil and their kind, using deadly tactics and specialized gear.
The Everlasting - The characters play legendary immortals from the races known as "The Everlasting". All were once human, but they have found their own secrets of immortality. I allowed the characters to start as thousands of years old immortals, giving them 36 EP to start with each. This allowed them to increase stats, skills, and gain fighting styles and magic mudras to make them reflect their years of training and history. Each player has a detailed back-story for their immortal, which reflects their long lifespans and made for plot hooks galore. The story reflected around the players defending a Merchant Lord in Axis from an assassin who happens to be impersonating one of the player character's alter-egos, the Mistborn Assassin. The Mistborn has existed as a renown and feared assassin throughout the hushed stories of ages. It is associated with a black mask and cape and a specific sword known as the Eternal Peace, a thin armor piercing fencing blade. Many stories claim that the assassin was killed only to return...the truth is, a Kaga demon has shape-changed into the Mistborn and is sullying the name of this perfect assassin, by failing to kill a Merchant Lord, not only once, but twice....and drawing the real Mistborn into the custody of his would be victim...
